Jim Armel, SC Regional Director
TICA South Central Regional Newsletter January 2021
Happy New Year to everyone! With a new year comes new changes for our Region, as our past Regional Director Vicki Jo Harrison is now our new TICA President! Congratulations to Vicki Jo on her position of leading TICA into a new world coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For us here in the Region, I would like to announce a few streamlining changes that will go into effect immediately. The best being Stormi Nell has agreed to continue updating and working on our website, which I plan on using extensively! Please thank our Regional Webmistress as soon as you can!
Now, I am happy to announce that most all of our Regional Committees will remain the same as their very diligent hard-working Members and Chairs have agreed to stay and continue their work for you and TICA! I only have one big change to announce, and that is Ms. Caroline Fralia has asked to step down from her position as Chair of the Disaster/Rescue Committee. How can we ever thank you enough Caroline for your unselfish work you’ve done for our Region. We all know the dedication and love you and Joe have had for helping anyone and everyone at any time in this Region! This position would normally be extremely difficult to fill. However, our Region is blessed with another member who I think y’all will agree has a heart as big as Texas and is the perfect fit for this Chair, Ms. Jennifer Simper! Thank you, Jennifer, for accepting this position as the Region could not have found a better fit! As a bonus, Caroline has agreed to stay in touch and help Jennifer through any learning process.
The other change I’ll be implementing is discontinuing the use of Deputy Directors. Since I’m retired and home getting in Donna’s way every day, getting in touch with me directly will never be easier. Phone, text, email you name it, I will be available to you just about 24/7. Have a question, come straight to me and you’ll get an answer or a promise to find that answer and get back to you. Unless I’m judging a show somewhere else, I will make every effort to attend all shows in Region for at least 1 day of that show. And if I can’t attend a show or am out of country, I want to announce two individuals that have agreed to be my left and right hands. Ms. Marty Young and Dr. Jorge Garnica! Thank you both for agreeing to help me in your new roles as Associate Directors. Not sure who is left and who is right, but the first time one of them walks up and wants to slap me I think I’ll have my answer.
Now for our Regional Website. One of my goals is to make this the one stop shopping point for everyone. Stormi and I will be discussing ideas we both have, and we are looking for anything the Members might feel is missing or just needs to be added. I know we’ve had this tool, but I’m not sure if it’s been used as it could be? Shows will be updated weekly, and “Active” clubs will also be listed. I’ll also have a monthly newsletter that Stormi will post on it. Look forward to this little project, and your input.
Regional Show updates, 2020 is coming up in March in Corpus Christi. 2021 is currently being worked on by the Gulf Coast Feline Foundation in the Houston area, and 2022 will be going back to PAWS in the Dallas area. Yellow Rose Cat Club has expressed interest in holding a Regional so 2023?
Hoping everyone stays safe, get those vaccines if you’re like me and can’t wait, and I’ll see you in Deer Park on Sunday the 31st.
