Happy Holidays, South Central
Happy Holidays, South Central! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. I know I will be happy to hang my new 2021 cat calendar on the wall!
The new year will be bringing some changes to the South Central Region. I will be taking over the duties of TICA President on January 1st.
Jim Armel has been appointed by TICA’s Board of Directors to become the South Central Interim Regional Director for the remainder of my term. Jim begin his duties on January 1st and I am confident that he will serve us well for the next two years.
Thank you to Jackie Rose, Kerry Dolan and Harley DeVilbiss who also came forward and put in Letters of Intent. Our region is very lucky to have such qualified and willing members to step forward to serve the South Central and TICA. Thanks to all four of you for your willingness to serve. Thank you!
I would like to thank all those who have served the region with me for the past four years. Thank you to the six Deputy Regional Directors who volunteered to help me serve you: Jackie Rose for Colorado (and New Mexico for a short time), Jonna Inman for Kansas, CJ Nell for Oklahoma and Arkansas, Paul Harrison for North and Northeast Texas, Steven Savant for Southeast Texas and Louisiana, and Ana Maria Sosa for Mexico.
Thanks to the following SC members for volunteering their time and energy to our region. Thank you to: Steven Savant-Regional Treasurer, Stormi Nell- Regional Webmaster, Dorothy Seils- Regional Scorer, Jackie Rose for creating and sending out the SC newsletter, Mistelle Stevenson and Lanna Edmonds for working with our Junior Exhibitors, and Toni Meisberger for helping me with the regional show calendar.
Thank you to Tammy Ardolf for heading up the Legislative/Feline Welfare Committee, Kerry Dolan JE Liaison, Christie Montgomery for chairing the New Exhibitor Committee, Becky Brown and Winter Wiorkowski for running out New Exhibitor Seminars. Thank you to Marty Young and George Snell for the work they did with regional communications. The Disaster/Welcome Committee Frances Harshaw, Caroline Fralia and Joe Edwards for all their work. New Exhibitors appreciated the Scoring Seminars that Tom Goller provided. Thank you!
Thank you to all those who have helped every year with our awards presentations: Toni Jones, Charlotte Shea and Lanna Edmonds for taking care of our beautiful awards, Dorothy Seils for being our ballot judge for our special awards, DeLynne Satimore and Steven Savant for working with me on all our regional sponsorships, and Donna Maddox and Michelle & Todd Richards for creating the PowerPoint presentations and the awards booklets.
And to all the volunteers who helped set up the awards before each presentation, I couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you to Fate Mays, Jackie Rose, Laura Haswell, Dana Zauf, Toni Jones and Leo Townsend and the many others who helped set everything up for our regional celebrations.
With 2020 being a Year To Remember, we had 6 plus months before shows started back up in person, although not in many areas of the country. Two members of our great region, Jonna Inman and Jackie Rose, decided to pursue TICA Virtual Cat Shows....expecting a 'fun little event', the idea exploded to virtual shows in essentially every region in the World and ended with a big Finale. Thank you to Jonna Inman and Jackie Rose for the idea; our South Central Virtual Show Team Denise Spraker, Michelle Richards, Jackie Rose, Jonna Inman, Nicole Barrett and Toni Jones for hosting the first Virtual show. These shows generated funds to assist with canceled and postponed show expenses plus Regional Awards fees as needed. We may have been the first, however the idea spread and with Liz Thomas Brown's (awesome Great Lakes Regional Director) assistance, every region and TICA as a whole benefitted from this idea born over an idea on what to do when one can't go to shows!
If I inadvertently left anyone or overlooked anyone, please know it is not intentional. All your dedication and work for the South Central Region
is very much appreciated! As you can see it take a lot of dedicated people to help keep our region going successfully.
Most of all, I would like to thank you, South Central Members. It has been an honor serving as your regional director. I wish each of you a healthy and Happy New Year.
